I do it myself – I am confident: Growing up with KidZania through first experiences
Believing that confidence is nurtured through first experiences, KidZania creates opportunities for children to boldly try new things and learn every day. This spirit is concretized through the “I do it myself, I am confident” campaign, where every child is given the chance to grow from their first experiences.
Everyone needs first experiences to begin
Has your child ever wanted to do something on their own, but hesitated because they were afraid of making mistakes, afraid of not doing it well, or simply lacked the confidence to try? For many young children, these “first times” are always accompanied by feelings of nervousness and shyness. But it is from the moment they decide to try themselves for the first time that their journey of growth truly begins.

Like 9-year-old Tri Dung, when he first came to KidZania – 5th floor, Lotte West Lake Hanoi and participated in the pilot role-playing activity, he only dared to watch other children experience it through the glass window, his eyes full of apprehension, his hands clenched with anxiety. After a few tries, from the initial awkward actions, Tri Dung gradually became more confident, proactively completing his task. “I did it!” That sentence marked his first experience, one he will probably remember forever.

Not every child is ready from the start. Some need more time to get used to it, some need more encouragement to dare to step out of their comfort zone. But when placed in an environment where experimentation is welcomed, children have the opportunity to experience without the heavy pressure of right or wrong. This feeling of encouragement helps those hesitant first attempts become stepping stones for children to learn to believe in themselves and boldly move forward.
When parents learn to “step back” and let their children do it themselves
For many parents, “stepping back” isn’t always easy. Hesitation often stems from a desire to protect their children: fear of making mistakes or worry that early setbacks will discourage them. In a busy life, when children struggle for too long, the familiar reaction of adults is to quickly make decisions or do things for them to ensure everything goes smoothly.
However, it is precisely when adults become impatient that children need more time. Even if it stems from love, hasty intervention can inadvertently narrow the opportunity for children to learn from their own experiences, making them accustomed to waiting for help instead of proactively finding solutions.
Learning to step back doesn’t mean abandoning, but choosing the right way to support. It’s about parents observing more, encouraging at the right time, and trusting in their child’s abilities, even when the results aren’t perfect.
Ms. Thu Hang – Tri Dung’s mother – shared that she used to worry because her son was shy and timid. But when she witnessed him confidently stepping into the KidZania cockpit simulator and transforming into a captain, she was deeply moved: “The flight wasn’t easy, but he did it. Seeing him complete the task on his own, I understand that independence helps him grow wiser.”

Many families have similar feelings when bringing their children to KidZania. Like Minh Chau, who had a memorable “first time” at the O’Food Cooking Academy. Although she had never been in the kitchen before, by carefully listening to the instructions from YouTube and focusing on each step, Minh Chau successfully completed her seaweed rice roll. When she presented her finished product to her parents, her eyes lit up with pride. Her parents humorously shared: “I didn’t think she could make such a beautiful rice roll on her first try. From now on, my little kitchen has a little chef to accompany me.”
Spread the message “First Experiences – I do it myself, I am confident” with KidZania Hanoi
The “I do it myself, I am confident” campaign launched by KidZania gives children the opportunity to try their hand at something new in a safe and realistic environment.
At KidZania Hanoi, all first experiences are cherished and valued. Whether it’s putting on a Hyundai automotive engineer uniform for the first time, transforming into an O’Food chef, or practicing being a doctor at Hong Ngoc Hospital, all bring valuable moments and genuine emotions of many “first times.”
We are often used to celebrating obvious achievements: a high score on a test, winning a competition, or when a child completes something perfectly. However, KidZania believes that for young children, daring to try something for the first time, with its awkwardness and clumsiness, is just as worthy of recognition. Because before doing well, children are allowed to do it imperfectly.

Initial slowness or mistakes in operation are proof that children are bravely stepping out of their comfort zone to conquer new challenges they have never faced before. When that effort is encouraged at the right time, children gradually understand that trial and error is a natural part of the journey to adulthood.
“First experiences can be failures or successes, but everyone needs first experiences to start” is the overarching message that KidZania Hanoi wants to convey, and also an encouragement for a spirit of continuous learning and creativity.

And it is from these seemingly small first experiences that KidZania Hanoi sows the seeds of dreams and inspires children to freely explore themselves and confidently move forward on their journey of growing up.
